Thomas Stoddard was appointed chief financial officer of Aviva PLC, confirmed a spokeswoman for the firm.
Mr. Stoddard replaces Pat Regan, who is leaving Aviva in June to join Australian insurer QBE, according to a news release by Aviva issued in January.
Mr. Stoddard also will join Aviva’s board when he starts May 5. He will be based in London.
Mr. Stoddard was senior managing director, head of global financial institutions advisory, at Blackstone Group. Martin Alderson Smith was named head of the financial institutions group “while the transition is underway,” according to an internal Blackstone memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
