Wylie A. Tollette will join CalPERS as chief operating investment officer on March 31, confirmed fund spokesman Joe DeAnda.
Mr. Tollette will replace Janine Guillot, who left the $282.5 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, in July.
“Wylie is a strong and skilled operations executive with the investment industry experience necessary to lead CalPERS' investment office,” said Ted Eliopoulos, acting CalPERS chief investment officer said in a news release from the fund. “We look forward to working with Wylie and welcoming him to our senior management team.”
Mr. Tollette is senior vice president for portfolio analysis and investment risk management at Franklin Templeton Investments. Bill Weeks, a spokesman for Franklin Templeton, in an e-mailed statement, declined to give specifics on replacing Mr. Tollette.
“We have an experienced leadership team within the group (portfolio analysis and investment risk management) and anticipate a very smooth transition,” Mr. Weeks said.
