Jackie Roberts will join alternative investment manager Carlyle Group on Feb. 18 as chief sustainability officer, said Elizabeth Gill, Carlyle spokeswoman, in an e-mail.
It is a new position. Ms. Roberts will be based at Carlyle's Washington headquarters. She will lead Carlyle's global environmental, social and governance efforts and work with the firm's portfolio companies to drive adoption of ESG principles.
Ms. Roberts was senior director of the Idea Bank for the U.S. Climate and Energy Program at the Environmental Defense Fund.
“As a top expert, Jackie raises the profile of the role internally and demonstrates our commitment to ESG as a firm,” Ms. Gill wrote.
