Brian MacDougall joined Cheetah Investment Management, a Hong Kong-based alternatives fund group, as business development director.
The position is new and focuses on broadening the firm's institutional client base beyond Asia to the U.S. and Europe.
Mr. MacDougall will report to Raymond Wong, managing director.
Cheetah Investment Management was launched in 2002 by value investment veterans V-Nee Yeh, the firm's chairman, and Mr. Wong.
Cheetah has just under $1 billion in assets under management.
Mr. MacDougall left his most recent position as executive director of Swiss private bank Syz & Co., which in 2010 acquired a hedge fund-of-funds business he had helped launch and has been focused on private investments in the interim, confirmed a spokeswoman for the firm.
