P&I Online readers have mixed opinions of proposals in Washington to set up retirement plans for people who don't have access to employer plans.
Last month, President Barack Obama announced a new retirement account called MyRA that the Treasury Department will administer. Meanwhile, Sen. Tom Harkin introduced a universal retirement bill.
Support for the competing proposals was mixed, but almost 52% of readers support the idea of the federal government promoting retirement savings. More than 12% of readers support the president's MyRA plan, and more than 11% of readers support Mr. Harkin's bill. More than 28% of readers support both ideas.
Almost 48% of P&I Online readers do not support either MyRA or Mr. Harkin's proposal.
