Christopher Solarz's day job is hedge fund consultant.
Outside the bounds of a normal workday, he's a runner and a serial breaker of Guinness World Records.
Most recently, Mr. Solarz ran 77.07 miles on a treadmill in 12 hours, beating the previous world record of 76.68 miles, for his sixth Guinness World Record. He previously set records twice for marathon running and one each for stair climbing, subway riding and beer drinking.
Mr. Solarz's investment management clients will no doubt appreciate the diversification of his portfolio of world record victories. He is a managing director and global macro hedge fund specialist, based in the New York office of alternative investment consultant Cliffwater LLC.
Thanks to being in “the best physical shape of my life” and consuming 5,000 calories, the 35-year-old Mr. Solarz did not step off the treadmill during the 12-hour endeavor.
Dozens of cheering friends and family members, including 1½-year-old son Sebastien, kept him focused on the long run, Mr. Solarz said in an interview.
One of his fans captured the moment when Mr. Solarz passed the previous record in this YouTube video:
