Big growth: Assets grew 15.7% in fiscal 2013 to A$1.6 trillion. Contributions totaled A$115.3 billion, down slightly from A$117.5 billion a year earlier.
Big returns: The rate of return for all plans in fiscal 2013 was 13.7%. The overall 10-year annualized return was 6%, with 9.5% volatility.
Diverse holdings: About 44% of superannuation assets were in blended default strategies. Among default strategies, corporate funds held the highest percentage of assets in equities, retail funds had the highest percentage of fixed income and industry funds had the highest percentage of property assets.
