Hampshire County Retirement System, Northampton, Mass., is searching for managers to run passive domestic equity and fixed-income strategies, confirmed Mary Baronas, administrator.
RhumbLine Advisers now manages about $37 million in passive domestic equity — $21 million in S&P 500 and $8 million each in S&P 400 and S&P 600 index strategies. Mellon Capital Management runs $12 million in a passive core bond strategy. Both managers' contracts are expiring; the firms are invited to rebid. Pension funds in Massachusetts are required to seek contract bids every five years.
The $243 million pension fund is searching for equity strategies in any of the three S&P indexes; the bond strategy will follow the Barclays Capital U.S. Aggregate or Barclays U.S. Long Government/Credit indexes.
Investment consultant NEPC is assisting.
The RFP notice is on the pension fund's website. Proposals are due Feb. 3. A hiring date was not specified.
