Gianluca Romano joined institutional real asset adviser Courtland Partners as a managing director to lead its European business, confirmed a spokeswoman for the firm.
Mr. Romano is Courtland Partners’ first employee in Europe, and is based in London. His appointment is part of an ongoing global expansion for the firm, which covers real estate, infrastructure and energy assets, according to a news release. He will bring Courtland Partners’ range of consulting services to its European client base.
“A lot of our client base is in the U.S., but not exclusively,” said Mr. Romano in a telephone interview. “In recent years (there has been) a lot of interest from non-U.S. clients to use our services. As part of our company’s plan to grow we need to expand into Europe and Asia, and I am the first along that path.”
Of the $60 billion that the firm has advised on since 2000, just less than 50% is in non-U.S. investments, he said.
“Not only will (Mr. Romano) enhance our capabilities with respect to the European markets and managers, he will help us in developing and providing services to European and other non-U.S.-based clients,” said Michael Humphrey, founder and managing principal of Courtland Partners, in the news release.
Mr. Romano previously worked as a director and chief operating officer of Vision Consulting, based in the U.K., and has experience in investment banking and private equity real estate portfolio management.
