Tom van Rijsewijk and Tim Humphrey joined Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions, part of Macquarie Funds Group, as part of a European expansion of the unit, confirmed a spokeswoman for Macquarie Group.
Mr. van Rijsewijk was previously responsible for sourcing senior financing for infrastructure projects within ING Bank's infrastructure finance and advisory team, based in London. Mr. Humphrey joined from corporate finance firm TradeRisks, where he sourced capital markets funding for insurance and pension fund investors that wanted access to social housing and broader infrastructure sectors.
The appointments are part of a European expansion for MIDIS, which was launched 18 months ago to cater to long-term investors looking for access to high-quality debt in the infrastructure sector, according to a Macquarie news release. The expansion is a response to a broadening investor base across Europe and a growing portfolio of infrastructure debt investments. The firm's infrastructure debt assets under management was not available at press time.
Andrew Robertson, a managing director in the Macquarie Funds Group and head of investor structuring and strategy, and Fiona Griffin, a managing director in the Macquarie Funds Group and head of risk for MIDIS, both moved to London from Sydney as part of the expansion.
“The arrival of Tim Humphrey and Tom van Rijsewijk and the relocation of (Ms. Griffin and Mr. Robertson) are central to the growth of both the investment team as well as the continued expansion of our investor focused approach to asset selection,” said James Wilson, senior managing director and CEO of MIDIS, in a news release.
