Exchange-traded product assets reached a record $2.4 trillion in 2013, climbing more than 23% during the year. Total flows for the year were $235.5 billion, which was about 10% less than the $262.7 billion of flows in 2012.
By asset class exposure, developed markets equities dominated net inflows ($257.7 billion), followed by fixed income ($27.5 billion) and 'other', ($3.6 billion). Commodity ETPs saw net outflows of $42.9 billion, led by SPDR Gold ($25 billion), while emerging markets equity funds had $10.4 billion in outflows.
