Steve Booth was named president of Robert W. Baird & Co., whose units include Baird Asset Management, according to a statement Monday from the company.
Mr. Booth added the new role of president, effective Jan. 1, in addition to his current responsibilities as chief operating officer and co-head of Baird's equity capital markets business, the statement said.
Mr. Booth became COO in 2013 as part of a plan that calls for him to become CEO in January 2016, succeeding Paul E. Purcell in that post. Mr. Purcell will continue as chairman, said John Rumpf, director of corporate communications.
Mr. Booth, who is a managing director, is a member of Baird's board of directors and executive committee and chairs the firm's finance committee.
In addition, Mr. Booth has moved, effective Jan. 1, leadership of Baird's global investment banking to Brian Doyal and Brian McDonagh, both managing directors,and co-head of global investment banking. Mr. Booth will continue to serve as co-head of equity capital markets, which includes institutional equities research and trading as well as investment banking.
