Stephane Detobel and Francis Verpoucke were named managing directors of the newly created TOBAM North America, confirmed Yves Choueifaty, president and chief investment officer.
Both positions are new.
According to Mr. Verpoucke, he and Mr. Detobel will both be responsible for business development and relationship management with U.S. investors. They will report directly to Christophe Roehri, managing director and head of business development at TOBAM.
Mr. Debotel was previously CEO of Amundi USA, while Mr. Verpoucke was a managing director at Amundi USA. Candice Chetrit, a spokeswoman for Amundi, confirmed that Stephen Eason is now responsible for Amundi sales in North America.
Mr. Choueifaty said in an interview that establishing a permanent office in the U.S. is part of Paris-based TOBAM's strategy to expand its North American presence. “About 25% of our AUM is in North America. We're a SEC-registered company and CalPERS owns 12% of our company, so we already have a footprint in the U.S.,” he added.
