David Calhoun, CEO of Nielsen Holdings, will join Blackstone Group as a senior managing director and head of private equity portfolio operations.
It is a new position, said Peter Rose, Blackstone spokesman, in an e-mail.
Mr. Calhoun will oversee a 21-person team within Blackstone's portfolio operations group, which partners with portfolio company CEOs to drive key value creation initiatives. He joined Nielsen in 2006, shortly after it was acquired by a consortium that includes Blackstone. He sits on Nielsen's board and will become executive chairman in January.
