Daniel E. Feder was named managing director of private markets at Washington University Investment Management Co., St. Louis, confirmed university spokeswoman Susan Killenberg McGinn.
The investment unit oversees the $5.7 billion Washington University endowment and about $500 million in other university assets.
Mr. Feder begins on Dec. 2 and replaces Craig Nickels, who left the university in November 2012.
He was previously senior investment manager in the endowment services area at TIAA-CREF. Officials at TIAA-CREF could not be immediately reached for comment.
