Catharine C. Burkett was named vice president and head of private investments at investment consulting firm LCG Associates, confirmed spokeswoman Lauren Cangelosi.
It is a new position. Ms. Burkett was previously co-director of alternative investments at Georgia Employees' Retirement System, Atlanta.
Ms. Burkett joined the $14.5 billion pension fund late in 2012 to help launch with fellow co-director Ben Cahyono the pension fund's first entry into alternative investments following passage in April 2012 of legislation allowing Georgia Employees and most other public pension funds in the state to invest up to 5% in alternatives.
James Potvin, executive director of the pension fund, said Mr. Cahyono will continue as the sole director of alternative investments. The pension fund does not plan to search for a replacement for Ms. Burkett.
