New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Albany, posted an investment return of 13.7%, net of fees, for the fiscal year ended June 30, confirmed John Cardillo, a spokesman for the pension fund.
The assumed annual rate of return is 8%, Mr. Cardillo wrote in an e-mail.
The pension fund reported an audited $95.4 billion in assets for the fiscal year ended June 30, up 8.3% from the previous fiscal year. The investment return for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012, was 2.8%.
Mr. Cardillo wrote that the pension fund's assets grew to $98.5 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, but no return rate is available yet.
The results were announced Thursday at the pension fund's quarterly board meeting.
