Vanderbilt University endowment, Nashville, returned 9.3% in the year ended June 30, according to its most recent financial report.
The endowment reported $3.6 billion in assets as of June 30 and attributed the increase from the previous fiscal year's $3.4 billion to strong investment returns, particularly in global equities.
As of June 30, the endowment's target allocation was 35% global equities, 25% absolute return, 15% private markets, 10% fixed income and 7.5% each real estate and natural resources.
The endowment's actual allocation, also as of June 30, was 28.3% private markets, 28.1% global equities, 22.8% absolute return, 8.6% natural resources, 6.7% real estate, 5.1% fixed income, and 0.4% cash and cash equivalents.
Spokesman Jim Patterson said the university would not provide further details.
