State Street Global Advisors reported $2.24 trillion in assets under management as of Sept. 30, up 4.4% from June 30 and up 8.5% from a year earlier, according to parent company State Street Corp.'s third-quarter earnings report Tuesday.
SSgA's passive AUM totaled $1.75 trillion for the third quarter, up 5.5% in the quarter and 10.7% in the year. Within passive, exchange-traded funds totaled $360 billion, up 6.8% from both a quarter and a year earlier. Actively managed AUM totaled $106 billion, down 1.9% from the end of the previous quarter and down 9.4% from a year ago. Cash AUM totaled $386 billion, up 0.3% for the quarter but down 0.3% for the year.
Net income for State Street Corp. totaled $531 million, down 7.5% from the previous quarter and down 23.2% from the year-ago quarter. Revenue totaled $2.43 billion, down 5.3% from the previous quarter yet up 2.9% from the third quarter of 2012.
