Chicago Laborers' Annuity & Benefit Fund hired Wasatch Advisors to manage $27 million in international small-cap equities, according to a posting on the $1.4 billion pension fund's website.
It's the first international small-cap manager for the pension fund, according to information on the fund's website. Baillie Gifford, Baring Asset Management and Thomas White International run international large-cap equities for the pension fund, while Robeco Investment Management and Vontobel Asset Management run emerging markets equity strategies.
An RFP was issued April 1. Investment consultant NEPC assisted.
The funding source for the Wasatch hiring could not be learned. Maura Murrihy, the pension fund's executive director, did not return calls seeking further information.
