ScholarShare Investment Board, Sacramento, Calif., is searching for an investment consultant and industry consultant for the state’s 529 college savings plan, confirmed Bill Ainsworth, spokesman for Treasurer Bill Lockyer, who chairs the board.
Pension Consulting Alliance and AKF Consulting Group are the investment and industry consultants, respectively; both can rebid. Their contracts expire April 16.
The investment consultant will analyze, monitor and evaluate asset allocation and investments for the $5 billion 529 plan, among other responsibilities, according to the RFP. The industry consultant will provide “ongoing expertise on the 529 industry, including trends, marketing and distribution strategies, 529 plan comparison analyses, assistance with writing request for proposals, and analysis of the ScholarShare program manager’s marketing plans and performance,” according to the RFP.
The RFPs are available on the board’s website. Proposals are due at 4 p.m. PST Nov. 20. Hiring decisions are expected in early or mid-December.
