New York State Common Retirement Fund, Albany, invested and committed a total of $850 million to three managers, confirmed Eric Sumberg, a spokesman for state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the sole trustee of the $158.7 billion pension fund.
The pension fund committed $400 million to Apollo Investment Fund VIII and $200 million to Platinum Equity Capital Partners III, both buyout funds. It previously committed $1.4 billion total to five prior Apollo Global Management funds and $20 million to Hudson River Fund II, managed by Platinum Equity.
The pension fund also invested $250 million in HBK Master Fund, a multistrategy hedge fund managed by HBK Capital Management. It is the pension fund's first investment with HBK.
