Alaska Retirement Management Board, Juneau, is searching for at least one active international equity manager, according to an audiocast of the board meeting Friday.
The allocation size has not been determined. Investment consultant Callan Associates is conducting the search.
Gary Bader, chief investment officer of the $22.2 billion pension fund, said most of the funding will likely come from current active international equity managers. He said there is a high concentration of assets with the current managers and he would like to diversify the lineup.
The pension fund has a 25% target allocation to international equity and is underweight by about three percentage points, according to materials prepared for the board meeting.
A hiring date was not specified.
