Global leveraged buyout private equity earned 10.92% for the year ended March 31, nearly one percentage point below the MSCI World index return of 11.85% for the same time period, according to a new global buyout benchmark released Monday by Cambridge Associates.
Global buyouts earned 5.68% for the five years, 14.67% for the 10 years and 13.32% for the 20 years ended March 31. Global buyouts outperformed the MSCI World index in all three time periods, which earned 2.23%, 8.88% and 6.84%, respectively. All multiyear returns are annualized.
This new buyout data, in addition to Cambridge’s growth equity performance numbers, are subcomponents of the firm’s broader private equity index.
