Peter Hecht was named vice president, senior investment strategist at hedge funds-of-funds manager Evanston Capital Management.
The position is new, according to a company news release. Mr. Hecht leads the company's topical investment research program and works with institutional investors and their consultants on portfolio construction.
Mr. Hecht was senior investment strategist at Allstate Investments, where he focused on portfolio strategy for the management of Allstate Corp.'s property and casualty and $5.1 billion defined benefit plan portfolios.
Christopher Bauer, an Allstate Corp. spokesman, did not return calls seeking information about Mr. Hecht's replacement.
ECM managed $4.5 billion in hedge funds of funds as of June 30, mostly for institutional investors.
