Laura Luo joined Baring Asset Management in Hong Kong as head of Hong Kong China equities, according to a news release.
Ms. Luo replaces Agnes Deng, who left at the end of August, confirmed a spokeswoman, who had no further details regarding Ms. Deng's departure.
Ms. Luo had been a fund manager on the greater China equities team of Schroder Investment Management in Hong Kong. An e-mailed statement from Schroders said Louisa Lo, head of greater China equities and deputy head of Asia ex-Japan equities, is assuming responsibility on an interim basis for the portfolios Ms. Luo had overseen while the firm searches for a permanent replacement.
The statement said Schroders “will invest in resources ahead of an eventual and gradual liberalization of access” to China's stock markets.
