Peter Marber joined Loomis Sayles & Co. in Boston as head of emerging markets investments.
The position, overseeing investments in emerging markets fixed income and equity, is new, confirmed spokeswoman Meg Clough.
Mr. Marber was emerging markets debt business strategist at HSBC Global Asset Management in New York. Asked about plans to replace Mr. Marber, an HSBC spokesman in an e-mail said Guillermo Osses, chief investment officer of emerging markets debt, and his team will continue to manage the firm's emerging markets debt portfolios.
