Nathaniel L. Raney was named investment relationship manager for the $1.7 billion Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System, Harrisburg, confirmed James Allen, secretary of the pension fund.
It is a new position, created by the board due to the growth of the pension fund to nearly $2 billion, Mr. Allen said.
Mr. Raney will work with the pension fund’s investment consultant Dahab Associates, global custodian Bank of New York Mellon, and 14 investment managers.
Mr. Raney was previously section chief, state and federal grant programs, at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
Mr. Allen also said the board will interview two finalist candidates for his replacement at its Sept. 19 meeting. Mr. Allen, who has had the top-level executive position at the pension fund since 1984, will retire in April 2014.
