Texas Municipal Retirement System, Austin, hired Russell Investments, Citi and BlackRock as transition managers, confirmed spokesman Bill Wallace.
It is the $20.8 billion pension fund's first transition manager hires, which are still pending negotiations.
A shortlist search approved in February was conducted by investment consultant R.V. Kuhns & Associates.
Separately, the pension fund ended negotiations with Mesa West Capital over a $100 million commitment to Mesa West Core Lending Fund, which was approved in December. Mr. Wallace said both sides mutually decided to end negotiations and that the money will be assigned to another manager at a later date.
