Brian Marshall joined GoldenTree Asset Management as a managing director in the firm's business development group.
The position is new, said Scott Sunshine, a company spokesman.
Mr. Marshall was a managing director in the structured product unit of capital markets specialist Barclays Capital. His background includes specialized expertise in credit and mortgage strategies, including collateralized loan obligations, leveraged loans, credit correlation, esoteric asset-backed securities and structured finance collateralized debt obligations backed by residential mortgage-backed securities and commercial real estate, according to a GoldenTree news release.
“Brian has excellent product knowledge in structured credit markets and was responsible for the GoldenTree relationship at Barclays since 2007,” said Joe Naggar, GoldenTree partner and senior portfolio manager, in the release.
Earlier this month, James Clarke also was named managing director, business development, at GoldenTree, another new position. Mr. Clarke is responsible for overseeing large institutional investors and consultant relations for the company.
GoldenTree manages about $18 billion in a variety of hedge fund, long-only and opportunistic strategies.
