Jim Sherwin was promoted to director of strategic research by the $24.2 billion Texas Employees Retirement System, Austin, confirmed Mary Jane Wardlow, a spokeswoman, by e-mail.
It is a new position.
Mr. Sherwin now leads a research effort that encompasses the pension fund's external established and emerging money managers, risk management and the internally managed quantitative and indexed portfolios, according to materials from the board's meeting Tuesday.
Mr. Sherwin will not be directly replaced in his prior role as director of global equities. Instead, his duties have been assumed by U.S. and international equity team leaders John Streun, Christopher Tocci, Timothy Reynolds and Andrew Hodson. Each of the four equity team heads holds the same title — supervisor of public entities — Ms. Wardlow said.
