Roberto Velarde has joined Darby Overseas Investments, the private equity arm of Franklin Templeton Investments, as managing director, Latin America private equity, spokeswoman Heather Hickson confirmed in an e-mail.
It is a new position.
Mr. Velarde is augmenting “the expanding Darby private equity team in Latin America,” Ms. Hickson said. He is based in the Washington office.
Mr. Velarde was managing director and chief investment officer of Grupo Inder, a Santiago, Chile-based private investment firm. Executives at Grupo Inder could not be reached by press time.
