John H. “Jack” Laporte, a portfolio manager with T. Rowe Price for 22 years, has died at the age of 68.
He died at his home on Aug. 12, of complications from lymphoma.
Mr. Laporte, who was lead portfolio manager of small-cap growth portfolios and chairman of the investment advisory committee of the T. Rowe Price New Horizons Fund from 1987 to 2010, had retired from the firm at the end of 2012.
“All of us who were fortunate enough to know and work with Jack are better off for it,” said Brian Rogers, T. Rowe Price chairman and chief investment officer, in a statement to Pensions & Investments. “We certainly benefited from his investment acumen, but also from the example he set as an individual for his high ethics and standards, patience, curiosity, cooperation, encouragement and sincere interest in helping us improve. He will be sorely missed by many.”
Survivors include his wife, Andrea; sons Christopher and Timothy; and two grandchildren.
