Reed Elsevier Inc., New York, hired J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services as record keeper of its 401(k) plan, according to the plan's website.
The transition to J.P. Morgan will be effective Aug. 20. The current record keeper is ING U.S. Retirement Services. The reason for the change could not be learned by press time.
As of Dec. 31, 2011, the Reed Elsevier Inc. U.S. Salary Investment Plan had about $1.3 billion in assets, according to the company's most recent Form 5500 filing.
A company spokesman confirmed the change but could not provide further comment.
