Louisiana Teachers' Retirement System, Baton Rouge, hired AllianceBernstein to run $325 million in global high-yield fixed income, confirmed Dana Brown, director of public markets.
The $14.7 billion pension fund issued a solicitation for proposals in May due to the pending contract expiration of incumbent manager Shenkman Capital Management, which rebid.
Other finalists were MacKay Shields and Western Asset Management Co. Hewitt EnnisKnupp assisted.
Also, the pension fund announced Disciplined Growth Investors, ING U.S. Investment Management and Janus Capital Group as finalists in its search for an active domestic midcap growth equity manager to run $175 million.
An SFP was issued in June because the contract of current manager Columbus Circle Investors is expiring. Columbus was invited to rebid but did not do so, according to Mr. Brown. Hewitt EnnisKnupp is assisting with the search.
The pension fund also committed up to $75 million to OHA Newbury Partners, managed by Oak Hill Advisors. The pension fund previously committed up to $75 million to OHA European Strategic Credit Fund in September 2011. Hamilton Lane assisted.
The pension fund's board of trustees also reviewed at its Tuesday meeting a potential SFP for a private markets manager, but voted instead to negotiate a contract renewal with current manager Hamilton Lane.
