Russell Wilson has a strong incentive to hope his second pro season is every bit as good as — or better than — his 2012 season.
Every touchdown from the Seattle Seahawks quarterback this NFL season will result in a $2,000 donation from Russell Investments to Mr. Wilson's charitable foundation, Power of Mind, which supports youth activities for communities in need.
The Seattle-based money management and consulting firm announced in July it teamed up with the Seahawks and Mr. Wilson for the “Invested with Russell” initiative.
“As a leading Seattle-headquartered company, we felt this was a unique opportunity as part of our broader commitment to support the communities where we live and work, to establish a charitable giving program that recognizes our commitment to the community with two exciting partners in the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson,” said Jennifer Tice, managing director and global head of corporate marketing and communications.
Mr. Wilson took the NFL by storm last year in his rookie season after he was selected in the third round of the draft. He tied Peyton Manning's rookie record with 26 touchdown passes and scored four rushing touchdowns. Had Russell Investments been paying up last year, the bill would have come to $60,000.
