New Mexico Educational Retirement Board, Santa Fe, committed $79.5 million to Real Asset Portfolio Management's RAPM/NMERB, a natural resources co-investment fund, and $40 million to private equity fund Z Capital Partners' Special Situations Fund II, said Bob Jacksha, chief investment officer for the $10.2 billion pension fund in an e-mailed response to questions.
Real Asset Portfolio Management will commit $480,000 for a total fund size of $80 million, Mr. Jacksha stated. Real Assets Portfolio Management is the pension fund's consultant for real estate and natural resources, he added.
The board's commitment to the Z Capital fund is its first with the private equity manager, he said. Z Capital takes majority interests in companies that are in distress including turnarounds, restructurings and bankruptcies.
