Boris Kovtunenko was named a senior vice president and portfolio manager at quantitative equity manager Acadian Asset Management.
The position is new, said Katherine McMillan, spokeswoman; Mr. Kovtunenko will focus on long/short, market neutral and other strategies.
The position was added because Acadian has expanded its global client business, John Chisholm, chief investment officer, said in a news release. “His diverse background will be very valuable as we see growth in many product areas including global long/short equity, ACWI, emerging and frontier markets, managed volatility and non-U.S. small-cap strategies.”
Mr. Kovtunenko was co-founder and partner at Blue Fir Capital, a long/short U.S. equity hedge fund. Efforts to reach Blue Fir were unsuccessful.
Acadian Asset Management, an affiliate of Old Mutual Asset Management, had $55 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
