Daniel D. Andersen was named executive director of the Utah State Retirement Systems, Salt Lake City, confirmed Robert Newman, current executive director.
Messrs. Andersen and Newman will serve as co-executive directors until Sept. 1, when Mr. Newman retires.
Mr. Andersen has served as legal counsel for the $23 billion pension fund since 1993. He will relinquish that role to serve solely as executive director, Mr. Newman said in a telephone interview.
In the last 20 years, Mr. Andersen has been involved in every aspect of the pension fund's operations, including administration, benefits, insurance, defined contribution savings plans, human resources, investments and legislation, according to a news release from the pension fund.
Mr. Newman is retiring after 28 years with the pension fund, including the last 14 years as executive director.
