Private equity firm Rosemont Investment Partners has invested in frontier markets investment firm Silk Invest, according to a joint news release.
Rosemont’s investment in Silk was the third investment made from Rosemont Partners III, LP, said David D. Silvera, managing director at Rosemont in an e-mailed response to questions. Rosemont is a minority investor with less than a 30% interest in Silk.
Mr. Silvera declined to disclose the amount of Rosemont’s investment.
Rosemont invests exclusively in money management companies, said David Silvera, managing director of Rosemont, in an online interview moderated by Baldwin Berges, Silk Invest’s spokesman.
London-based Silk Invest is aiming at gaining more U.S. investors, said Zin Bekkali, Silk Invest’s CEO and group chief investment officer.
Silk Invest manages about $200 million in equity, fixed income and private equity investments including a frontier markets fixed-income fund and a private equity fund that invests in African food and beverage companies. The firm invests primarily in Africa, the Middle East and frontier markets in Asia.
