Logan Circle Partners hired a four-person team from Goldman Sachs Asset Management to create an active growth equities business for what had been a bond-only firm, said Gordon Runte, Logan Circle spokesman.
Joseph Hudepohl, Scott Kolar, Warren Fisher and Gregory Frasca will form a growth equities senior management and research team at Logan Circle to be led by David Shell, chief investment officer of growth equities.
The team will run four investment strategies, seeded by Logan Circle parent Fortress Investment Group, all targeting institutional investors, Mr. Runte said. They will be the first equity strategies offered by Logan Circle, which manages about $22 billion in 15 fixed-income strategies.
Mr. Shell joined Logan Circle in April; he was co-chief investment officer of GSAM's growth equities investment team. Messrs. Hudepohl, Kolar and Fisher were portfolio managers at GSAM, while Mr. Frasca was a research analyst. Their titles at Logan Circle have not been announced, Mr. Runte said.
Their responsibilities at GSAM have been assumed by other members of the growth equity group; Steven Barry remains group CIO, said Andrea Raphael, spokeswoman at Goldman Sachs.
