John Humphrey was named managing director and Robert Glauerdt was appointed as director at Berkshire Capital Securities based in London, according to Bruce Cameron, president and CEO of the boutique investment bank.
Both positions are new. Messrs Humphrey and Glauerdt were previously managing director and executive director, respectively, within the global financial institutions group at UBS Investment Bank.
“Some of the larger firms have elected to cut back in this area,” including UBS, Mr. Cameron said. “We believe there is likely to be more activities in investment management (M&A), so we're building our capabilities.”
In Europe, Berkshire Capital advised on Schroders' announced acquisition of STW Fixed Income Management in December and BlackRock's agreement earlier this year to purchase MGPA, a London-based private equity real estate investment manager.
A UBS spokesman said the company will not be replacing Messrs. Humphrey and Glauerdt. Their responsibilities will be assumed by the existing team.
