Joseph Carieri will join TCW Group as head of institutional distribution and marketing, confirmed David Lippman, president and CEO.
Mr. Carieri will replace Chris Scibelli, who was a founding partner of MetWest and a managing director at TCW. Mr. Scibelli is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities, Mr. Lippman said in an interview.
“Joe brings a vitality and new outlook which will be refreshing for TCW,” Mr. Lippman said.
Mr. Lippman said Mr. Carieri will start in early July.
Mr. Carieri will leave his position as senior client service executive at Western Asset Management Co., where he worked for 18 years. He was responsible for client relations in the public pension fund and Taft-Hartley markets, Mr. Lippman said.
In a statement, Mary Athridge, a spokeswoman for WAMCO, said the company would be working with Mr. Carieri to transition his clients to other senior members of the team at WAMCO.
“All very amicable — super opportunity for Joe,” Ms. Athridge said.
Mr. Scibelli was unavailable for comment.
