Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System, Harrisburg, is searching for a new secretary, the top-level executive position for the $1.8 billion pension fund, confirmed James Allen, current secretary.
Mr. Allen, who has held the position since September 1984, informed the board earlier this year that he would be retiring effective April 2014.
The goal is to fill the position around October, Mr. Allen said in a telephone interview. This would provide a four- to five-month overlap for a transition, he said.
According to a job listing for the position, the secretary serves as the CEO of the pension fund and “serves as coordinator with and the consultant and liaison to the board's independent consultants and contractors included but not limited to the independent auditors, the consulting actuary, investment managers, investment advisor, and master custodian.”
The listing is posted on a state employment website.
