San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System named four finalists in its alternatives investment consultant search, documents presented at the pension fund's board meeting on Wednesday show.
The finalists are incumbent Portfolio Advisors, Cambridge Associates, LP Capital Advisors and TorreyCove Capital Partners.
Fourteen consulting firms submitted proposals for a multiyear contract following an April 12 RFP to provide the pension fund with strategic and tactical investment planning, market research and investment due diligence for its nearly $6 billion private equity portfolio.
The $16.9 billion pension fund expects to select the consultant at its July or August meeting, said Norm Nickens, the pension fund's executive assistant.
Documents show that the pension fund staff might include a recommendation for both hiring a primary alternatives consultant and a backup consultant to be used on a per-project basis.
