A whitepaper released Wednesday by SEI Investments highlights the growth that alternative mutual funds and ETFs have experienced in the past five years. From 2008 through 2012, assets invested in alternative mutual funds and ETFs grew by 135% to $554 billion, boosted by $257 billion in net inflows during that time. According to this analysis and market sizing, alternative products are funds classified as alternatives, commodities, currency, GTAA, non-traditional bond and world allocation.
