Mawer Investment Management will open an office in Singapore in August, according to the Calgary-based global equity manager's website.
The Singapore office will be the first overseas base for Mawer and its third office. The C$16.4 billion (US$15.8 billion) investment manager has an institutional sales and service office in Toronto.
Peter Lampert, an international equity analyst at the firm's Calgary office, will relocate to Singapore.
The new Singapore office will provide the company with “greater understanding of the Asian region in general … (allowing) more direct access to companies for research, monitoring and meeting purposes,” according to Mawer's announcement.
Jamie Hyndman, Mawer's director of strategic business development, couldn't immediately be reached for further comment.
