Eugene Eun Soo Chung will rejoin Allianz Global Investors as CEO of the firm's operations in Korea, effective June 17, confirmed Bonnie Wu, a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman with Allianz.
Mr. Chung will take on the responsibilities of running the Seoul office from Kwanghyun Kyung, the firm's chief operating officer, who stepped in as acting CEO after longtime CEO Wonil Lee left Allianz at the end of February for personal reasons.
Mr. Chung returns to Allianz from Kyobo AXA Investment Managers, Seoul, where he served as CEO and president. He had served as chief investment officer, fixed income, with Allianz in Korea before joining Kyobo AXA in 2006.
A Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for AXA Investment Managers didn't immediately have information on plans to replace Mr. Chung.
