Kansas Public Employees' Retirement System, Topeka, is searching for a deputy chief investment officer of public markets, confirmed spokeswoman Kristen Basso.
The $14.4 billion pension fund has not had a designated deputy CIO for several years, Ms. Basso said in a telephone interview. However, the hired person will take over the duties of Robert Hiebert, investment officer for equity strategies. Ms. Basso did not immediately have information on where Mr. Hiebert went.
The deputy CIO reports to CIO Elizabeth Miller and assists in overseeing the management of the retirement system's publicly traded asset classes. The position is primarily responsible for working with the CIO to develop and implement a risk management system across all assets.
Executive search firm EFL Associates is assisting. The job posting is available on the National Association of State Retirement Administrators' website.
