Robert W. van Zwieten was named president and CEO of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association, confirmed spokeswoman Carolyn Kolb.
He replaces Sarah Alexander, who joined middle-market emerging markets private equity firm Abraaj Group as managing director in February. Jennifer Choi, vice president of industry and external affairs, had been serving as acting CEO during the search; she will resume her original responsibilities, Ms. Kolb said.
Mr. van Zwieten's appointment is effective immediately.
Mr. van Zwieten most recently was director of private sector capital markets at Asian Development Bank.
EMPEA serves about 320 member firms representing more than $1 trillion in assets under management.
